The new Radioline wireless platform from Phoenix Contact offers wire replacement for simple I/O and serial communication. With software-free radio setup, Radioline offers a cost-effective wireless solution where it is too costly or not possible to run a wire.
Radioline features simple I/O-to-I/O communication without the need for programming software. The newest family of controllers from IDEC delivers affordability without compromise. Equipped with powerful and abundant features, the FT1A SmartAXIS series is a high-performance, cost-effective solution for limited I/O applications! The five models in this series include our exclusive FT1A Touch, a 3.8” HMI with 12 I/O PLC (HMI + PLC), as well as 12, 24, 40, and 48 I/O PLCs.
The 3.8-inch FT1A SmartAXIS Touch is available in 65K TFT color or Monochrome with a super bright screen of up to 700cd/m2. The Touch is an All-in-One Touchscreen interface and logic controller packed in a compact body big on features.
The FT1A Touch has an embedded RS232C/RS422/RS485 interface terminal for communication with other serial devices or Modbus RTU communications; USB Type A port for maintenance communication; and USB mini Type B port for data logging and recipe data. Offered with 12 I/O (8 inputs, 4 outputs), 10A relay outputs and built-in 2pt Analog inputs, the built-in RJ45 Ethernet port also allows users to remotely connect to the unit. Modbus TCP is supported and like other similar IDEC touchscreens, SmartAXIS Touch can be mounted horizontal or vertically and has 5MB of programming memory. It is IP66f (watertight and oil tight) rated and available with a silver, light gray or dark gray bezel.
FT1A SmartAXIS Controllers are available with 12 (8 inputs, 4 outputs), 24 (16 inputs, 8 outputs), 40 (24 inputs, 16 outputs), and 48 I/O (30 inputs, 18 outputs) with and without embedded LCD/keypad. Each CPU is equipped with 2 to 8 point 0-10V DC analog inputs, an embedded real time clock, 10A relay contacts, remote I/O, 4 to 6 high-speed counters up to 100KHz, and a USB mini B programming port. An optional RS232 or RS485 adapter is available for connection to other serial devices, such as an IDEC HMI and Modbus RTU communications. Modbus TCP is also supported on the Ethernet port. On top of that, Ladder Logic can be displayed and controlled; a unique feature with the FT1A SmartAXIS controllers. Text messages with bar graph and dynamic values can also be configured for scrolling and flashing on the embedded LCD.

In conjunction, with the release of the FT1A family of controllers, the Automation Organizer software suite has been upgraded to support this series. All FT1A controllers now support Ladder, Function Block and Script programming. Automation Organizer now includes our intuitive WindLDR software to program all IDEC PLCs, WindO/I-NV2 for IDEC touchscreens, WindO/I-NV3 for FT1A Touch and WindCFG software. Earlier in the year Schneider Electric announced the evolution of the S-Flex enclosed VFD which provides more of the desired features and options for applications requiring full voltage bypass. Phoenix Contact introduces a new low-cost power supply family. TheUNO POWER power supply units offer basic functionality for 24 and 12 V DC applications requiring up to 100W of power, with a meantime between failure of more than 700,000 hours. Designed for low-cost, basic functionality, the UNO POWER line is available in three performance ratings; 30W, 60W, 100W.
The products in the UNO POWER range have a power density 10 to 20 percent higher than similar DIN Rail power supplies on the market. This high efficiency saves energy and ensures cool and durable control cabinet components.

Wireless data transmission is becoming a more viable way of communication, and the amount of data being put on these networks is growing — and so is the importance of speed.

The new WLAN 5101 provides high-speed WLAN 802.11n with MiMo antenna technology in industrial wireless applications. That means a data rate over the wireless path that is five times higher than the one using the current 802.11a/g standard.
Cluster Management technology in the WLAN 5101 is a unique solution allowing the user to configure and make changes to networked Access Points from any point on the network. This eliminates the need for a central networking controller or the need to access each individual radio to make these network changes.

The WLAN 5101 has been developed for easy installation, even under unfavorable conditions and in confined spaces. The wireless IO solution ILB BT ADIO MUX from Phoenix Contact allows wireless transmission of digital and analog signals between two terminals. The new ME test disconnect terminal blocks from Phoenix Contactprovide safe disconnect capability between measuring transducers and safety equipment in current transformer (CT) shorting applications. The screw-free disconnect lever provides visual indication of the switch`s position.
Designed for use in such industries as power generation, utilities and semiconductor manufacturing, the ME terminals can be used wherever high currents must be reduced using current transformers, and where high voltages are reduced with voltage transducers. To accomplish the safe disconnect, the operator places switchable ME test disconnect terminal blocks before the meter for measurement and maintenance.
Each Phoenix Contact terminal block has a set of three bridging channels on either side of the disconnect lever. The new pluggable shorting component can lock into one of the bridging channels. Even with the shorting component installed, two bridging channels remain available for use.

The Hoffman brand PROLINE Containment System is designed to segregate cold (intake) and hot (exhaust) air. Consisting of aisle doors, ceiling panels and chimney stacks, the new containment system can be used for hot or cold air containment, preventing the hot and cold air from mixing—which can lead to poor cooling and wasted energy. By increasing cooling efficiency, the system manages a higher thermal density without requiring additional cooling units—which can result in extra capital costs and expensive equipment downtime. Available for use on raised or non-raised floors in small to large data centers, the PROLINE Containment System is designed for use with the company’s popular line of PROLINE cabinets and can be modified to work with alternative enclosure brands.
The PROLINE Containment System accommodates 36 and 48-inch aisle ways. Fully gasketed aisle doors keep hot and cold airflow contained in separate areas when closed. With ergonomically positioned interior and exterior grab handles, safety glass and interior lighting, the aisle doors allow complete accessibility and easy visibility of network equipment. Clear and transparent door and ceiling panels provide maximum light to the aisle way, and tool-less ceiling panels utilize Velcro to attach to the top of the cabinet, providing quick discharge of panels for cleaning or above-the-cabinet equipment access. Chimney ceiling panels are also used to direct hot air back to cooling devices, preventing hot exhaust from rising through the containment area. The chimney panels are available in two heights with infinite adjustments possible between minimum and maximum extensions, accommodating a wide range of application requirements.

Mersen, formerly Ferraz Shawmut, introduces its new X series line of UL 1449 third edition approved surge protection devices (SPDs), the Surge-Trap Type 1 X-Series, which provide overvoltage protection for all locations in the facility with the smallest footprints available. The new X-Series SPDs features industry leading TPMOV® technology inside.
The new series includes the Surge-Trap XR series, which provides overvoltage protection for distribution branch panels, control panels and equipment. “There are many SPDs on the market that no longer meet the UL1449 standard. To know if a SPD product is in compliance, look for the UL holographic label on the device. The Surge-Trap Type 1 X-Series SPDs are rated for NEMA 4X enclosures and suited for system voltages from 120V to 600V. They have a 20kA (In) nominal discharge current and high 200kA SCCR ratings. Designed to meet a broad range of application requirements, the air conditioners now feature a dust-resistant treated coil, supporting filterless operation in most environments. SPECTRACOOL Air Conditioners provide a broad range of cooling capacities, power input and mounting options. Models provide 4,000, 6,000 8,000, 12,000 and 20,000 BTUs/hr (1,172, 1,758, 2,300, 3,500 and 5,900 Watts) of cooling and operate on 115, 230 or 400/460 3-phase AC volt power input.
The filterless option reduces clogging—which can lead to extremely costly and time-consuming system failures. This design additionally saves labor and money typically required for filter replacements. Dual impellers—which pull air into the front of the unit and direct the air upwards in a 90-degree angle for the most direct air path—provide redundancy on the condenser side. An integrated active condensate evaporator provides a method of removing condensation without the need for a drain tube, and a thermal expansion valve can increase or decrease the refrigerant flow according to load changes on the evaporator.
